Program Description The Bachelor of Arts is designed for students interested in pursuing the study of music within a broad liberal arts curriculum. The degree program emphasizes a full spectrum of music courses. Students may elect to pursue an area of emphasis in music.

Admission Requirements Admission to Major is granted by the department.
Minimum University admission requirements are:
  • a minimum of 32 earned semester credit hours
  • a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 (C)
Other Requirements Entering music majors and minors are expected to have substantial musical experience performing with church or school ensembles, or as a soloist. Before admission to the major or minor, music literacy (the ability to read musical notation) must be demonstrated. Though Minnesota State Mankato does offer a course in basic music-reading skills, it is strongly advised that you begin those studies prior to arriving.
