Getting our new employees off to a good start can make a big difference. We want to make them feel welcome and help them get their bearings. In doing so, we can set the stage for a long and productive working relationship.
Before your interview, there are a few things that will help you prepare for navigating campus, finding a place to park and living in Mankato. There are also resources that you can explore to find out more about working at Minnesota State University, Mankato. The Pre-Hire Checklist portion of the New Employee Onboarding Agenda will help both you and your manager get you ready for your interview.
The Post-Hire, Pre-Start Checklist portion of the New Employee Onboarding Agenda will assist you and your manager to organize everything for your first day on the job. Most of these items are completed by your manager, but it is important to turn in any requested documents in a timely manner, so you we be able to get your MavCard (ID card) and computer access on your first day.
Congratulations on starting your new position in ITS! To help you get settled, the Week 1 Checklist portion of the New Employee Onboarding Agenda will help both you and your manager make sure you have everything you need for your first week at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
By Week 2, you will have your desk/office set up and have access to parking, computers and other necessary items. Now that you are settled in your new position, use the Week 2 Checklist portion of the New Employee Onboarding Agenda to create a professional development and training plan with your manager for the coming year.
At the three month mark, take a few minutes to review the New Employee Onboarding Agenda through the 3 Month Checklist portion. If you are missing any items or need additional training or job assistance, let your manager or mentor know.
After your sixth month, you are eligible for certification with HR and your bargaining unit. You should also receive your six month performance review. Use the 6 Month Checklist portion of the New Employee Onboarding Agenda to make sure you have everything you need to be successful in your new job. Let your manager or mentor know if you have any questions or concerns.

The hiring mentor plays a special role in getting our new employee off to a great start.
